10-year Treasury yield plummets: Chart

(Bloomberg) – Treasury yields fell on Friday amid growing concern that a new variant of the coronavirus identified in South Africa will spark new outbreaks and slow a fragile economic recovery. The yield on the benchmark 10-year note fell 16 basis points to close around 1.47%, its biggest single-session decline since March 2020. At the same time, traders pushed back the date of a first rate hike. 25 basis points by the Federal Reserve as of September since June.
