And Netflix
On Netflix we have The director, in which a Sandra Oh fresh out of Killing Eve – and lending her voice to Raya and the Last Dragon– should be in charge of chairing an English department at a major university. And also one of the heaviest premieres of the platform this year with Sweet Girl, in which the charismatic Jason Momoa -Aquaman, Justice League- plays a vengeful character who hunts down those who murdered his wife while trying to protect the only family he has left: his daughter.

Movistar + brings us this weekend several premieres, among others Wild, with a frightening and menacing Russell Crowe on the verge of nervous breakdown like half humanity is with the year and a half that we have already been of Coronavirus.
Friday 20th
Wild
22: 00h at Movistar Premieres (dial 30). Russell Crowe and Caren Pistorius are the protagonists of this ‘psychothriller’ of high voltage and excessive violence with spirit of series B. Directed by Derrick Borte (“American Dreamer”, “London Town”), “Wild” follows Tom, a man for whom life has completely lost its meaning. In the middle of a mental breakdown, he runs into Rachel, a woman who berates him for not starting the car when the light turns green. The chase begins.
Everything will be alright
22: 00h in Movistar Series 2 (dial 12). Shortly after returning from New York, Nicholas, Mathilda, Genevieve and Alex try to survive the day to day confined to their Los Angeles home by the Covid-19 pandemic. Between routines, phone calls and a lot of time at home, Mathilda wonders if her relationship with Drea is real or not.
Silent Witness
Friday 20 at 22:00 at # 0 (dial 7). Every week, two episodes, one case. A group of forensic pathologists will have to face new cases in the twenty-third season of ‘Silent Witness’, the longest running current police thriller. Initial suspicions will have to be corroborated in the laboratory, but nothing is what it seems and this team of forensics will have to do their best to discover what story each corpse tells.
Big Weekend: el festival de BBC Radio 1
22: 00h at Movistar Fest (dial 23). As every year, the Big Weekend is presented with an overwhelming line-up and on its 16th anniversary the most outstanding artists of the current music scene take to its main stage such as Miley Cyrus, 1975, Billie Eilish, Mumford & Sons, Lewis Capaldi, Ellie Goulding , Foals, Sigrid, Rita Ora, Pale Waves, Charli XCX, Anne-Marie or Zara Larsson. The two episodes of ‘Big Weekend: the BBC Radio 1 festival’ collect the best moments of the last edition that was held in person of one of the most acclaimed musical events of the year.
Saturday 21
Lupin III: The First
22: 00h at Movistar Premieres (dial 30). Nazis willing to restore the Third Reich, a mysterious diary, an infinite energy generator (very dangerous in the wrong hands) and the brilliant white-gloved thief Lupine III come together in this fun ‘anime’ adventure starring the grandson of that famous Arsenio Lupine created by Maurice Leblanc in the early 20th century.
On Disney+
This weekend, and after releasing the 5 seasons of Alias two days ago, the action, thriller and espionage series by JJ Abrams that catapulted its protagonist, a superb Jennifer Garner -and her character, Sidney Bristow-, we have a few licensed films to see, like Lian Neeson handing out slaps and lapidary phrases in the sequel to Taken, the great Spanish thriller La Isla Minimima, or the A3MSC sequel to Tengo ganas de ti, with Mario Casas and Maria Valverde falling in love, falling out of love and making their fans fall in love on the way.

On Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video brings the most important premiere of the week with Nine Perfect Strangers, a series that mixes mystery with a choral cast of bluebells with Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale or Melissa McCarthy among others, and that deals with 9 strangers who do not know each other, each with problems to solve, and they end up in the same place: a luxury resort called Tranquillim House, which will be anything but quiet.
Besides ofto House of the Snail, pure Andalusian mystery and ‘folk horror’, with a writer who spends the summer in the mountains of Malaga where he discovers a very disturbing legend. AND Cats, the musical by the Oscar-winning director of The King’s Discourse and Les Miserables that became the biggest cinematic hit of 2019, with devastating reviews that forced something unheard of: a rerun weeks after the premiere of a better quality CGI copy that they did not make more than compounding the disaster.

HBO It does not bring any series of weight, but it does bring a whopping 19 films of different genres. We have the classic of Grease (and its horrendous sequel), Viggo Mortensen’s massive performance in Capitan Fantastic; the misguided adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower; Kate Beckinsale always great in the latest installment of the Underworld saga; or the great performance of the leading duo of Call me by your name – although one of them, Arnie Hammmer, is now ostracized Hollywood for the scandal of his ‘cannibal’ and sexual fantasies.

The Show
The king and master of comics Alan Moore, who made the genre evolve with masterpieces such as Watchmen or The Killing Joke, makes his debut as a screenwriter and actor with this film in which magic, film noir and raincoat detectives are not lacking. Pure madness passed by with Moore dressed – or rather, disguised – as a master of ceremonies.
