According to a survey, of 2,000 individuals, on the party planning habits of Americans, the average party host will spend a total of $1,422.65 each year on party planning.
Perhaps most interestingly, however, according to this same survey, the average American party host will spend around ten hours planning for these parties. Of these ten hours spent planning, around two hours and five minutes will be devoted specifically to planning, which is the second biggest category overall.
With this in mind, it is clear that planning a party can take up a surprising amount of mental and physical labor—as anyone who has ever thrown a party can attest to!
Themed parties require even more planning, as the theme you ultimately choose must be carefully selected from a wide range of possible alternatives. At the same time, however, themed parties are also risky to organize, as the theme itself can have a big impact on how much of a hit the party is.
With all that said, if it is your turn to host a party, bookmark this article for future reference as we will give you a run-down of some of the best, most party-appropriate themes to try out at your next event!
Casino Themed
A great party theme that your guests will be sure to love is a casino theme!
If you have ever taken a trip to Las Vegas, or any other casino, you know just how much fun they can be. There is something uniquely exciting about the glitz, glamour, and debauchery of a casino. And this is even more true when you are surrounded by your friends!
And regardless of whether you choose to dress your guests up in their black-tie finery or go for something more casual, the casino theme is a whole lot of fun!
To make the experience that little bit more authentic, we suggest setting up a few stations with casino games, where your friends can bet against each other with real cash. You can do this relatively cheaply by setting up a computer or mobile device with your online casino of choice opened up on it. This will allow you to play live roulette games without having to buy any extra equipment!
When I Grow Up
A slightly more unusual party theme is a ‘when I grow up’ party. This gets your guests to dress up as what they wanted to become when they were young.
Not only does this give you a chance to get to know your guests better, but it also gives you the opportunity to indulge your childhood dreams—even if it is just for an evening!
Disney Party
I can think of few people in my life that don’t have a favorite Disney movie or character, which is what makes this theme so perfect for your next party.
Get your guests to dress up as their favorite Disney characters or, alternatively, to choose a costume that tries to capture their favorite Disney movie.
Best of all, given that there is so much Disney material to choose from, it is unlikely that you will see any repeat costumes—the choices are practically endless!
Favorite Movie Character
A personal favorite of ours is to ask your guests to dress up as their favorite movie characters. This is a particularly fun theme as it will test the limits of your guests’ creativity!
What we love most about this party theme is that it gives the guests an opportunity to express themselves creatively and to let their personalities shine through.
You can also turn the party theme into a game by getting every guest to guess what the others have chosen! For a fun twist on this theme, you could also ask your guests to dress as their favorite movie or film celebrities.
The Roaring Twenties
The so-called ‘roaring twenties’ were one of America’s most culturally significant periods of history. And it was in this short decade when, as the world recovered from the horrors of the First World War, we saw an explosion of music, art, and culture.
With that said, a roaring twenties theme makes for an incredibly rich party. And regardless of whether you go as the Great Gatsby or a sharply dressed flapper, your guests are sure to love this theme!
Internet Meme Party
As we have become increasingly reliant on the Internet, Internet memes have become a ubiquitous part of modern culture. With this in mind, why not ask your guests to dress up as their favorite Internet meme?
What’s great about this party theme is that it really forces your guests to be creative. They can dress up as their favorite memes and spend the night laughing as they try to figure out everyone else’s costume choices!
