A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hits northeast Taiwan

An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 was registered this Sunday at 1:11 p.m. (local time) in Yilan County, in northeast Taiwan, informs the China Seismological Network Center (CRSC).

According to estimates by scientists, the telluric movement occurred at a depth of 60 kilometers.

Seven large cities are located less than 300 kilometers from the epicenter, seismologists note. In Taipei, which is also within that radius, the tremor was felt intensely, as seen in the images posted by users on social networks.

More information, shortly.
