As we have told you on another occasion, the actor had a tragic childhood, since his parents died when he was 11 years old, although that did not prevent him from continuing on his artistic path. He studied geology and graduated from Clemson University, where he developed his skills and began to take place in front of the cameras until he reached the sitcom, becoming one of the most beloved figures.

In a conversation with Today Show from the NBC network this Monday, James revealed he’s battling stage 4 prostate cancer: “In September 2018, I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, which had spread to the bones.”. According to his words, the disease was discovered during a routine examination and his condition worsened during the Coronavirus pandemic.

He also commented that the tumor has metastasized to various parts of his body, such as his bones and spine, causing him to become paralyzed on the inside and unable to walk. “Of course it’s stage 4. Late stage cancer. So in the end, you know, it’ll probably end up with me.”, was the painful phrase that she released through tears. Later made a request to the public to be tested for PSA (prostate specific antigen), since detectable in time is 99% treatable.

Finally, he spoke of his appearance at the meeting of Friends and why he was not present on set with the actors: “I was really happy to be included in the reunion, but I was the one who decided not to physically do it and make an appearance for Zoom, basically because I didn’t want seeing me to be a disappointment, you know … I didn’t want it to be like, ‘ and by the way, Gunther has cancer ‘”.
