A study conducted by the National Center for Infectious Diseases and the Singapore Ministry of Health shows that mRNA vaccines demonstrate 69% efficacy against the Delta strain of coronavirus, regardless of symptoms, they report local media. The effectiveness index was announced this Wednesday at a press conference by the Minister of Health of the Asian country, Ong Ye Kung.

The investigation covered 1,000 household contacts of covid-19 cases between September 2020 and May 2021. The results obtained are relevant for two anticovid drugs licensed in Singapore: that of Pfizer and that of Modern.

“Recently, it was reported that in Israel the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine against infection is 64%. Our study registered 69%,” noted the headline. He also added that the findings of the investigation will be submitted for international publication with the aim of expanding knowledge about this variant and the efficacy of vaccines.

Likewise, published data indicates that these types of components guarantee 80 to 90% protection against symptomatic disease. In addition, in 93% of cases, mRNA drugs help to avoid scenarios in which it is necessary to resort to oxygen supplement, transfer to intensive care and death.
