A third of the beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income are Andalusians

A third of the total number of people who receive the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) reside in Andalusia, autonomy in which almost 6% of the population (502,308 people) receives this aid, followed by the Valencian Community (185,419) and Madrid (156,947).

The autonomous regions that have proportionally a greater number of beneficiaries are Melilla (13%), Ceuta (11.3%) and Andalusia (5.9%), taking into account the total number of inhabitants residing in each community and the number of people who receive this benefit.

On the other hand, the communities in which there are fewer beneficiaries per inhabitant are the Balearic Islands (1.7%), Catalonia (1.7%) and the Basque Country (2.1%).

According to data from the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Security, 1,579,949 are collecting the IMV in Spain as of January 2023 and, in all autonomies, there are more women than men collecting this benefit.

ANDALUSIA

Andalusia is the autonomous community in which more people receive the Minimum Vital Income (502,308), and is the third if the total number of inhabitants and the number of people who receive it are taken into account.

Thus, 5.9% of Andalusians charge the IMV, a proportion only surpassed by Ceuta and Melilla.

ARAGON

In Aragon, 3.1% of the population receives the Minimum Vital Income, which means a total of 42,302 people, of which 22,662 are women, 19,632 are men and 19,043 are minors.

ASTURIAS

In Asturias, 33,990 people receive this benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion, which represents 3.3% of Asturians, of which 19,344 are women, 14,644 are men and 12,492 are minors.

BALEARIC

The Balearic Islands is the autonomous community in which fewer people receive the IMV taking into account the total population residing on the islands, since 1.7% (20,186 people) receive this aid.

CANARY ISLANDS

In the Canary Islands, 64,053 receive the Minimum Vital Income, 2.9% of the population, of which 36,688 are women, 27,349 are men and 22,616 are minors.

CANTABRIA

2.5% of Cantabrians charge the IMV, which means a total of 15,099 people, of which 8,423 are women, 6,675 are men and 6,240 are minors.

CASTILE-LA MANCHA

In Castilla-La Mancha, 63,810 people receive the Minimum Vital Income, which represents 3.1% of La Mancha, of which 34,508 are women; 29,298 men and 28,837 minors.

CASTILLA Y LEÓN

3% of Castilian-Leonese receive the IMV (73,504 people), among which 39,751 are women, 33,743 are men and 13,621 are minors.

CATALONIA

Catalonia is the second autonomous region in which fewer people receive the IMV taking into account the total population, so that 136,567 Catalans (1.7%) receive this benefit.

. VALENCIAN UNIT

The Valencian Community is the second autonomy in which more people charge the IMV (185,419) but, if the total population of the community is taken into account, the number of Valencians who receive this benefit is within the Spanish average.

Thus, 3.6% of Valencians receive this benefit.

EXTREMADURA

Extremadura is the fourth community in which, proportionally, more people receive the Minimum Vital Income, since 5% of the population (53,084 people) receive this aid.

GALICIA

In Galicia, 71,635 people charge the IMV, which represents 2.6% of the population, of which 39,958 are women, 31,668 are men and 28,908 are minors.

LA RIOJA

3.4% of Riojans receive the IMV, so that 11,194 people receive this benefit.

MADRID

Madrid is the third community in which more people live who charge the IMV (156,947), but if the total population and the people who collect it are taken into account, it represents 2.3% of the total of Madrilenians.

MURCIA

In Murcia, 62,821 people receive the IMV (4.1%), of which 33,430 are women; 29,377 men and 29,056 minors.

NAVARRE

In Navarre, 18,809 people receive the Minimum Vital Income, which represents 2.8% of Navarrese, of which 10,322 are women, 8,483 are men and 8,244 minors.

BASQUE COUNTRY

The Basque Country is the third autonomous community in which fewer people receive the IMV taking into account the total population living there, so that 2.1% of the population (47,656 Basques) receives this benefit.

CEUTA

Ceuta is the second region in which more people receive the IMV considering the total number of inhabitants residing in each community and the number of people who receive this benefit, since 11.3% of Ceutis (9,469) receive this aid.

MELILLA

Melilla is the region of Spain that concentrates a greater proportion of people who receive the IMV, since 13% of Melilla residents (11,096) receive it.
