A new scandal hits the video game industry: Activision Blizzard has been sued for sexual harassment of its workers after a two-year investigation. The investigation has gathered enough evidence for the company to be in the crosshairs of everyone inside and outside the industry.
What exactly are we talking about? Repeated and constant sexual harassment, unequal wages, and special measures against female workers by the same company. This is the treatment that Activision Blizzard employees have received (20% of assets in the company) and that the California Department of Housing and Fair Employment has finally brought to light.
This is not the first company to have been accused of these practices in recent times. We remind you of the case of Ubisoft, whose behaviors have not changed despite the time that has elapsed, according to reports. The investigations continue to pile up, revealing a very uncomfortable truth and against which justice must be delivered as soon as possible.
A real horror for the company’s workers
The middle Bloomberg Law has indicated that the demand reveals alarming data, even pointing out “various highly degrading behaviors“ towards the women of the company by his colleagues. According to the report, drink large amounts of alcohol and behave inappropriately, even making jokes of a sexual nature and about rapes.
And if all this was not already inadmissible enough, the report also points out that workers they dedicate their working hours to playing video games and leaving their responsibilities to the workers. And this worsens even more when it is pointed out that within the office it was even said that women had no right to promote and motherhood was constantly criticized, pointing to it as something that bothered.
But it does not end here. The report points out a much tougher part that should shock everyone (if you are not already): according to the report, an Activision employee took her own life while on a trip with one of her supervisors after receiving constant sexual harassment, including the distribution of nude photographs at a company party.
Activision Blizzard is pronounced on the matter.

The DFEH includes distorted, and in many cases false, descriptions of Blizzard’s past. We have been extremely cooperative with the DFEH throughout their investigation, including providing them with extensive data and extensive documentation, but they refused to inform us of any perceived problems. […] We are disgusted by the reprehensible conduct of the DFEH in bringing to the complaint the tragic suicide of an employee whose death has nothing to do with this case and without taking into account her bereaved family.
Although we consider this behavior to be embarrassing and unprofessional, it is sadly an example of how they have behaved throughout their investigation. It’s this kind of irresponsible behavior by unaccountable state bureaucrats that is driving many of the state’s best companies out of California.
