The autumn update of Adobe Creative Cloud is all about artificial intelligence and online collaboration. The keyword is “Creative Cloud Web”: Photoshop and Illustrator should now also migrate to the net after porting them to the iPad. Simplified beta versions of both programs can be used in the web browser. In the “Creative Cloud Canvas”, materials, designs and images can be collected and distributed in the browser using drag & drop.
After the iPad, now the web version: Adobe Illustrator should be able to be operated in the browser in the future.
A beta version called “Content Credentals” is intended to provide long-term information about the components and their origin of complex images, such as photo montages. The tool automatically logs work steps in Photoshop. The history should be able to be viewed on contentauthenticity.org.
The software manufacturer has once again expanded the range of services offered by the Adobe Stock content platform. Audio files from various providers have also been added. In addition, Adobe brings updates for Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, which are supposed to reduce hard work such as cropping out motifs with methods of the artificial intelligence Adobe Sensei.
Photoshop CC
Artificial intelligence is supposed to simplify object selection in Photoshop once again. The AI component Adobe Sensei analyzes loaded photos in the background. This should make it easier to cut out image components than before. With “Hover Auto-Masking” you can mark motifs with the cursor in real time.
According to the manufacturer, with “Photoshop Auto-Mask” it will be sufficient in future to move the mouse over a motif to mark it.
Adobe has added a whole series of new entries to the “neural filters” filter collection, including Landscape Mixer, Depth Blur, Colorize, Color Transfer and Harmonization. In the “Landscape Mixer” you can combine different photos and edit the mood with the sunset, spring, summer, autumn and winter controls. “Depth Blur” can be used to create artificial depth of field. The program does not simply mask a motif and softly draws the rest, but creates a gradual transition into the depth with increasing blurring. The “Colorize” filter colors black and white photos; a similar feature has been included in Photoshop Elements since 2019. With “Harmonize” you can adjust the color mood of different components in photomontages.
Photoshop is now working with Illustrator. Vector layers can be completely imported into Photoshop and edited as vectors in image editing. Adobe has removed the 3D capabilities of Photoshop and recommends “Adobe Substance 3D” instead. The software comes from Allegorithmic, which Adobe bought in early 2019.
Lightroom Classic CC und Lightroom CC
After the autumn update, the raw developer Lightroom Classic comes with improved tools for masking: Until now, only the brush tool and radial and linear gradient filters could be used. Now you can use “Select Sky” to mask the sky and “Select Subject” to mask a motif with one click and then selectively edit basic settings such as exposure, contrast, lights and shadows for the masked area.
The newer Lightroom CC includes a “Explore” area where users can play around with other users’ photos and study editing styles among each other.
Illustrator CC
An improved 3D palette in the Illustrator drawing program converts two-dimensional into three-dimensional graphics. Like the software family of the same name, it is called “Substance 3D”. Adobe apparently borrowed the effect function from Allegorithmic and added it to the drawing program. With the tool “Vectorize” Illustrator should be able to convert hand-drawn sketches on the iPad into sharp vector graphics with the help of artificial intelligence.
Illustrator CC can convert two-dimensional graphics into 3D objects. The tool comes from Adobe Substance 3D.
Premiere Pro CC
A new feature called “Remix” uses artificial intelligence to rearrange audio tracks. If you add a music file, Adobe Sensei can adapt it to the length of the clip. The AI does not simply hide the piece, but tries to create a song structure that matches the content.
The “Remix” tool in Premiere Pro adapts audio tracks to the length of the video using artificial intelligence.
If desired, Premiere Pro can now display complicated sequences with many clips on multiple tracks in a simplified manner. As part of a team, users can comment on the work of users via the Creative Cloud in their browser. The Comments Palette in Photoshop displays these comments.
