Passenger traffic at Spain’s Aena airports exceeded pre-pandemic levels in February for the second consecutive month, the company said Monday.

With almost 17 million, the number of passengers in February was 2.2% higher than in the same month of 2019.

The busiest airport was Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Barajas, with more than 4 million passengers, 0.6% more than in February 2019.

Aena expects to recover pre-pandemic levels in 2023.

By comparison, London’s Heathrow expects to carry between 58 and 73 million passengers by 2023, or around 90% of its pre-pandemic levels at the top end of the range.
