In this sense, it arrives Red, a film that is added to the list of upcoming releases and that is very promising.
On this occasion, the person in charge of directing the film is Dome Shi, the Oscar winner for short Bagin 2018. In this way, it will tell the story of Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl who suddenly turns into a giant red panda every time she gets too excited, something very common for her. You will not be alone, because Ming, his mother, is quite overprotective and authoritarian, so he is never far from her.
Rosalie Chiang y Sandra Oh –Actress of Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve– are responsible for lending their voices to the main characters. Produced by Lindsey Collins, Red awaits its premiere for March 2022. And although there are still a few months to see it on the big screen, its creators released some advances. After presenting the trailer and the official poster, it was confirmed that a boy band created for fiction will be present in the film and that their songs will be written by the Grammy winners, Billie Eilish and FINNEAS.
About the band 4*Town, the director explained: “We needed our character Mei to be obsessed with something her mother would not approve of.”. This story takes place in the 2000s and is a clear representation of that time: “The boy bands were the first step into the boy’s world for many girls of that age. The members of the band were all super pretty, elegant, delicate and loving, and they had a particular way of bringing young women together with their best friends. Also, I thought it would be cool to create an animated boy band”.
For that, Billie Eilish – who recently launched her special of Happier Than Ever for Disney+– was chosen to write the songs of the band. Lindsay Collins argued: “When we started talking to her and her brother FINNEAS, before they won ‘one billion’ Grammy Awards, we could tell that they were updated with the latest trends. We were great fans. We met with them and brought up this crazy idea of a boy band, asking if they would be interested in writing and producing the songs. They were interested!”.
