Hillary Clinton has criticized Elon Musk for his recent social media comment directed at Taylor Swift, labeling it as “rotten and creepy.” She expressed that Musk’s message is akin to “another way of saying rape.”
Clinton argued that Musk’s remarks reflect an alignment with Donald Trump, in response to Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. presidential race.
Swift shared her endorsement alongside a playful photo of herself with her cat, Benjamin Button. In a clever jab at Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, Swift included the signature “Childless Cat Lady” in her post.
In response, Musk, the billionaire and father of twelve, replied: “Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
During her appearance on Kara Swisher’s podcast, Clinton reflected on Trump’s reaction to Swift’s endorsement, stating, “He had his alter-ego, Elon Musk, say something really rotten and creepy about her.”
She went on to say that Musk’s claim of wanting to “impregnate her” could be interpreted as “kind of another way of saying rape, I think.”
Clinton expressed her bewilderment at Musk’s comments, stating, “I can’t understand why he says what he says. It just is beyond my imagination.”
She further commented on the broader context of Trump and Musk’s misogynistic worldview, mentioning how they seem to be drawn to a sense of toughness and brutality. Clinton pointed to Swift as a self-made billionaire who spreads joy and imparts valuable life lessons, particularly to young girls and women, something that she believes triggers resistance from figures like Trump and Musk.
Clinton added that Swift’s endorsement was likely to rattle Trump’s camp, noting, “If it had happened before the debate it would have overpowered the debate. The fact that it happened right after the debate and just added to Kamala’s momentum must have just set them all off.”
Following Swift’s announcement, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to express his frustration, stating, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
The Harris campaign also responded with a playful statement that referenced Swift’s songs. They quipped, “We’re pretty sure it’s Safe (& Sound) to say Donald Trump’s week has him Down Bad. Mr Not-at-all-Fine has spent this week working through his feelings, whining about his Champagne Problems.”
They went on to detail Trump’s tumultuous week, filled with what they described as “rambling, yelling and constant conspiracy theories.” This included a reference to his visit to New York’s 9/11 memorial ceremony, where he was notably accompanied by far-right activist Laura Loomer, known for her history of promoting 9/11 conspiracy claims.
They wrapped up their statement with, “Call It What You Want, but It’s Nothing New for the Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”
