The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has sued his ex-partner, an Aquaman performer, for defamation. The actress took the stand last Thursday, May 5, for the second day in a row to testify. During her statement, Heard has accused Depp of sexually assaulting her with a bottle.
The singer has sued his ex-partner for defamation for $50 million for a text the actress wrote in the Washington Post about her experience as a survivor of domestic violence. Depp’s name never appears in the brief, but his lawyers say the reference is clear and that has damaged his career and reputation. The actor has already lost a defamation lawsuit in 2020 against the tabloid The Sun, which called him a “wife-beater.” The sentence was that it is “substantially correct” to refer to the interpreter as such.
Depp and Heard met while filming The Rum Diaries (2012) and married in 2015. The interpreter filed for divorce in 2016 and a restraining order against Depp accusing him of physical and verbal abuse.

Heard has recounted an altercation that occurred in Australia in 2015 in which, according to the actress, Depp raped her with a bottle of liquor. The actress relates that she had finished filming The Danish Girl and traveled to Australia, where her partner was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. According to her testimony, when she arrived, Depp took out a bag of MDMA and asked her to take some with him, but she refused. However, when he started drinking, the fight began. The second day of being there was when the sexual assault occurred.
“It has me against the wall. I hit my head hard,” Heard says. “He had me grabbed by the neck. Squeezing my neck. It got very ugly. He began to tell me that everyone had warned him about me and that he wished he had never married me. I wish he had never met me, no one liked me. I pushed it hard to get rid of it. He pushed me back and said, ‘Do you want to leave, girl?’ Suddenly, I’m in a fight with him, grabbing his shirt, and he throws me, throws me across the room, and I’m at a ping-pong table. He gets on top of me. He was hitting my face.”
According to Heard, when he got up from the table, Depp had a bottle of liquor and when she tried to pick it up, he would pull it out and laugh. “Around the third time, I grab it and break it between us. There is wine everywhere. That ignited him. It was as if a light bulb went out and he started screaming. He threw me to the ground. He has the bottle in his hand. He threw it away and failed. At one point, I had a broken bottle against the area of my face and neck and he told me he would cut my face.”
The actress has stated that Depp began throwing beer cans and soft drinks at her “one after another.” There was another struggle and, according to the interpreter, Depp put it against the wall.
“It’s hitting the wall. I had my nightgown on, he ripped it from my chest. He makes fun of me, he has my chest in his hands. She was naked. I was trying to stand up. I felt destabilized. At some point, I’m up against the wall and he yells at me,” she continues. “He tells me I ruined his life. I break free from it, take a step back and it was as if its energy was transferred to the phone. He went from hitting the wall to picking up that phone and screaming at the top of his lungs and slamming the phone against the wall, where he holds me back. It was over and over again, smashing the phone against the wall. In a moment, he is on top of me. No phone. Screaming again, ‘I hate you. You ruined my damn life.’ I couldn’t see it anymore. His eyes were black. He was looking at me. My head was against the wall. I couldn’t breathe,” he adds.
Heard began to sob describing what happened next: “The next thing I remember is that I was leaning back in the bar, her chest raised and looking at the light. I thought it was beating me. I felt pressure in my pelvic bone and he was penetrating.” The actress has related that she did not know if the bottle that he was putting inside her “was broken”. Heard has said Depp penetrated her with a bottle of liquor repeatedly, causing her vagina to bleed.
The actress has testified that the fights in Australia were motivated by different causes such as Depp’s alcohol consumption. Also that the actor became jealous because she was working on The Danish Girl with Eddie Redmayne and London Fields with Billy Bob Thornton. Another reason is that Depp was upset that she had been “mean” to one of her sisters.

Heard has testified about the first time she hit Depp and, during his account, has hinted that the actor pushed his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss down the stairs.
According to the actress, during an altercation at her home in 2015, her younger sister, Whitney, stood between the two in an attempt to calm the situation. Depp allegedly hit Whitney, who was with her back to the stairs. “I didn’t hesitate,” Heard says. “I thought instantly of Kate Moss and the stairs and hit her. In all my relationships, until then, I had never hit. For the first time, I hit him squarely in the face.”
Heard has also said that, when they had been together for two years, she “pushed back” Depp. “I would yell at him, call him ugly things. It was horrible. We both got into that pattern. I was so angry that this was happening. It felt so unfair. I felt that nothing I could do could change sobriety patterns and nothing I did make me stop hitting myself. I tried for a year, maybe two, with no answer. He threatened to call the police. I threatened to leave him. I tried to leave it. At this point, we were both saying horrible things to each other.”

Heard has said Depp discouraged her from acting and was “angry” at her for trying to find work. He also suspected that he had affairs with his male co-stars. According to the actress, she negotiated with Depp to appear in Magic Mike XXL. The interpreter points out that her partner at the time “reluctantly accepted” the role because, in part, it did not feature extensive scenes of sex or kissing.
At some point, after Magic Mike XXL, Depp “found snippets of ‘casting’ pages that sent Heard for another project and ‘exploded’ against her. “He told me I didn’t tell him. I didn’t ask him. Since I didn’t know about that casting I hadn’t done, he was furious with me. In the end, I didn’t do that casting.”
