AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT: The only current gaming graphics card for less than 500 euros

One day after its launch, the Radeon RX 6600 XT gaming graphics card is still available from several German retailers in the form of several manufacturer cards – not a matter of course in 2021. However, no one adheres to AMD’s price recommendation of 380 euros: The cheapest models start at 470 Euros, such as XFX’s Speedster Merc 308 and Gigabytes Gaming OC.

The price recommendation for the Radeon RX 6600 XT is already quite high, because ultimately it is a graphics card for full HD gaming with 1920 × 1080 pixels. At higher resolutions, the comparatively small 32 MByte Infinity Cache limits the load on the 128-bit narrow memory interface.

Nevertheless: If you absolutely want or need a graphics card, you will hardly get better offers for less than 500 euros in the short term. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 from the last generation is somewhat cheaper with prices starting at 440 euros, but renders at least a third fewer frames per second in 3D games (without ray tracing effects).

The GeForce RTX 3060, which is roughly the same speed, is occasionally available from 525 euros, but most models cost 570 euros and more. The Nvidia graphics card only outperforms the Radeon RX 6600 XT with activated ray tracing effects. The next faster AMD model, the Radeon RX 6700 XT, currently costs at least 690 euros.

In general, the graphics card prices are still excessive. On the one hand, there is a worldwide shortage of chips and components, for example of chip carriers on which GPUs are located, and on the other hand, crypto mining with graphics cards is popular in the Far East. There are tens of thousands of GPUs in mining farms.
