Ana Obregón Welcomes Granddaughter into the World
Ana Obregón is smiling with happiness once again following the birth of her granddaughter, Ana Sandra Lequio Obregón. The baby girl was born on March 20 by surrogacy in a Miami hospital and fulfilled Aless Lequio’s last wish to bring his son into the world.
Ana Obregón had been dreaming of her granddaughter’s arrival for months before she was born, as detailed in her book El chico de las musarañas, which her son began to write before his death and which she finished to honor his last wish.
In a recent interview with ¡HOLA!, Ana Obregón explained that Ana Sandra is not her daughter, but her granddaughter, and that she kept the surrogacy a secret for three years. When Alessandro Lequio found out that he was going to die, he explained to Ana Obregón that he wanted his son to have a child. After the surrogacy process was underway, Ana Obregón learned in August that the pregnancy had occurred and in December that the baby would be a girl.
In her book, Ana Obregón imagined what Aless’s daughter would be like and wrote about her immense pride in being the legal mother of the little girl. “Now I want to live for myself. For your daughter. For my granddaughter. For you,” she wrote.
The birth of Ana Sandra has given Ana Obregón new hope and the will to live again. She has even dressed her granddaughter in flamenco to celebrate the April Fair and appears happily walking through the streets of Miami with her in ¡HOLA! magazine.
