Samantha Jones Returns for “And Just Like That…” Cameo
It’s official – Kim Cattrall will make a brief appearance in the upcoming “Sex and the City” revival, “And Just Like That…”. According to Variety, the British actress filmed a scene in which her iconic character Samantha Jones has a phone conversation with lead character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The scene was shot in March in New York City, and Cattrall did not have to interact with any of her former co-stars or the show’s creator, Michael Patrick King.
However, Samantha Jones’s return to the series is only temporary, and it remains unclear if her character will continue to appear in future episodes. Cattrall made headlines in 2016 when she publicly announced her decision not to reprise her role after feeling that the character lacked personal development in the script for the third “Sex and the City” movie, which was ultimately cancelled.
Her decision caused a rift between Cattrall and Parker, as well as with King. When plans for a spin-off of the show were announced, Cattrall was not asked to rejoin her former co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
The second season of “And Just Like That…” is set to premiere on June 22, but fans will have to wait until August to see Cattrall’s Samantha Jones make her cameo appearance.
Despite her absence from the “Sex and the City” world, Cattrall has kept busy. She recently appeared in the film “About My Father” opposite Robert De Niro and is set to star in the series “Glamorous”.
