On Wednesday, a wake for the first Dominican-Mexican actor Andrés García took place at the home of his wife Margarita Portillo in Acapulco. Family and friends gathered to pay their respects to the actor, who passed away due to cirrhosis of the liver.
In the last years of his life, García lived in Acapulco with his wife Margarita Portillo. She revealed that her husband asked her to eat 20 things a day, but due to his illness, he could no longer digest much.
Actor Roberto Palazuelos was notably absent from the wake and only wrote a post on his networks, which Margarita Portillo denounced, calling him a “liar”. She emphasized that García was owed tributes by the port of Acapulco, which had not paid him any while he was alive.
Cirrhosis is a chronic liver lesion caused by a variety of causes that leads to the formation of liver scarring, which makes it more difficult for the body to process nutrients, causing weakness and weight loss, as well as accumulating toxins in the brain. García had a hemoglobin level of 5.1 in his last blood tests, which was very low.
Until his last day, García maintained the character for which he was recognized throughout his life, and expressions of affection and prayers were present for the actor at the wake. His wife fulfilled his last wish to hold his hand on the day he died.
Local media reports revealed that García’s relationship with his children was not good, and his will was changed months before, leaving them out of it. Instead, his wife and other relatives were named beneficiaries of his material assets, including Paraíso I, his mansion in Acapulco.
García will be cremated on Thursday and his ashes will be scattered on the beach of his house, where his parents’ ashes are also. Many of his fans, like José Moran who came to give his condolences, will remember the actor for the unforgettable performances he gave in his films and TV series.
