Atalanta defender Jose Palomino’s “B” sample has tested positive for a banned substance, the Italian anti-doping organization said on Friday.

The 32-year-old Argentine was provisionally suspended by Italian authorities last month after testing positive for a metabolite of clostebol, a steroid that appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of prohibited substances and is found in some medicines.

The club informed that Palomino will request the complete analytical documentation of its samples. The process carried out in Rome on Thursday confirmed the result found in the initial analysis, NADO Italy said in a statement.

Palomino, who joined Atalanta from Bulgarian side Ludogorets in 2017, has made 202 appearances for the team in all competitions.
