At least four Colombian soldiers were killed while “providing security” in the municipality of Ituango, in the department of Antioquia, by alleged members of criminal gangs, reported this Saturday General Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro Altamiranda, commander of the Army.

According to Zapateiro, the troops were attacked by alleged members of one of the organized armed groups that operate in the region near the former territorial space of Santa Lucia, a training and normalization center for former guerrilla combatants.

“As commander of the Colombian Army, I denounce and reject the murder of four of our soldiers […] they were apparently attacked by members of the Clan del Golfo. I am now going to the area to verify and review the situation, “explained the general, who expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
