The Pakistani police have opened investigations against no less than 400 men not yet identified, to which a young woman denounces for sexual assault after being beaten and groped by a crowd in a Lahore city park on August 14, during the country’s Independence Day.
The shocking attack was captured in several videos, which have gone viral on the networks and caused a wave of outrage and anger among users. The recording shows the men lifting the young woman on her feet, throwing her between them, tearing her clothes, assaulting and groping her.

The victim, who along with some friends was filming a video near the Minar-e-Pakistan monument, presented to the Lari Adda Police Station a complaint in which he claims that they were attacked by a crowd of about 400 people.
Activists, politicians, celebrities and ordinary people from across Pakistan have expressed their outrage at the assault on social media, grading the incident as a sign of the danger that women live, to the point that they become attacked in broad daylight.
“I can’t believe what I just saw! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: make the punishment of these men an example!” Wrote actress Mahira Khan sternly. In another tweet, he sarcastically continued: “Damn I’m sorry I keep forgetting myself, it was YOUR fault! Poor 400 men, they couldn’t help it.”

Pakistani Sen. Sherry Rehman said the recent explosion of violence against women suggests that the problem is getting worse in Pakistan. “Disgusted by the misogyny that appears everywhere when questioning the clothing, life and right to public spaces of a young woman, after #minarepakistan’s massive abuse of a TikTok star, “he added.

For their part, the authorities reported that the police are analyzing video clips and images from security cameras in the area to identify those who perpetrated the attack.
The well-known politician and businessman Sayed Zulfi Bukhari wrote on Twitter that Prime Minister Imran Khan has personally spoken with the Police to capture all the culprits involved in the mistreatment of women. He added that it is a “serious violation of laws and social norms“and stressed that the government” will not forgive a single person involved “in the assault.
