Winona Ryder Returns as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice Sequel

Fans of the horror classic Beetlejuice have been eagerly awaiting news of the upcoming sequel, and now new details have emerged. Winona Ryder, who first played Lydia Deetz in the original film 36 years ago, has been spotted on set, reprising her role as the character in her adult form.

The photos taken by paparazzi on the set show Ryder with Lydia Deetz’s signature spiked bangs, a tall and unruly bun, and a gothic style that includes pale face makeup and black eyeliner. She was also seen wearing dark clothing.

Although the identity of Ryder’s co-star in the photos is not clear, it is believed to be Michael Keaton, who is set to reprise his role as the title character in the upcoming movie.

The long-awaited sequel is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024, detached from Tim Burton’s original horror classic. In addition to Ryder and Keaton, Jenna Ortega will play Lydia’s daughter.

The film is produced by Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B, and directed by Tim Burton. Actor Justin Theroux is also set to appear in the movie, although his role has yet to be revealed.

Beetlejuice was a box office success when it was released in 1988, and has since become a Halloween classic beloved by generations of horror movie fans. A musical adaptation of the story was also created for Broadway.

A planned sequel titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian was put on hold in the 1990s due to Burton and Keaton’s focus on releasing Batman Returns. But now, fans can look forward to the highly anticipated new movie, featuring the return of Ryder and Keaton in their iconic roles.
