‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Tops Box Office Again, Scaring Off ‘Transformers’

In a remarkable display of box office dominance, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has claimed the top spot for the third consecutive weekend. The sequel to the beloved 1988 horror comedy, directed by Tim Burton, raked in an impressive $26 million in ticket sales, based on estimates released on Sunday.

This week, it narrowly surpassed the new animated release “Transformers: One,” which opened to $25 million. The film, a captivating origin story featuring Optimus Prime, boasts a star-studded voice cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Scarlett Johansson.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” a Warner Bros. project, has successfully captured audiences, amassing over $226 million in domestic earnings over its first three weeks. The film enjoyed a phenomenal debut with $110 million, marking it as the third-highest opening weekend of the year, followed by a second-week performance of $51.6 million.

In third place was the horror film “Speak No Evil,” featuring James McAvoy, which earned $5.9 million in its second week, bringing its total to $21.5 million.

The overall box office landscape has exhibited a quieter trend recently. However, anticipation is growing for the upcoming release of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” set to hit theaters on October 4, which is expected to invigorate the box office.

Ranking as the year’s second-highest grosser, “Deadpool & Wolverine” maintained a spot in the top five during its ninth weekend of release, collecting an additional $3.9 million, resulting in a remarkable domestic total of $627 million. Currently, it trails only behind Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” in earnings.

Another noteworthy film this week is “The Substance.” This body horror thriller starring Demi Moore and directed by Coralie Fargeat made a notable debut, earning $3.1 million on limited screens during its first weekend, landing in sixth place.

The Daily Wire’s film “Am I Racist?” continues its run in the top ten. Featuring conservative commentator Matt Walsh, the movie follows his experiences as he goes undercover as a “DEI trainee.” It secured seventh place, generating $2.9 million, bringing its two-week total to $9 million.
