The Belgian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula One calendar next year, the organization announced on Sunday, after speculation that the race at Spa -Francorchamps was eliminated.
“Formula One can confirm that the Belgian Grand Prix will be on the 2023 calendar following an agreement to extend our collaboration,” it said in a statement ahead of the 55th edition of the grand prix.
Formula 1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali had warned this week that reports of the race’s demise were premature.
The prospects of holding a race at South Africa’s Kyalami circuit seemed to have receded.
Formula 1 has yet to release the full 2023 calendar, which is expected to include a record 24 races, up from 22 this year.
“Further details on the 2023 schedule will be announced in due course,” the sport said.
