WILMINGTON, Oct. 25 (Reuters) – US President Joe Biden said on Monday that he hopes his fellow Democrats can reach an agreement this week on their “Build Back Better” agenda ahead of the climate talks in New York. the UN in Glasgow.

“That’s my hope,” Biden told reporters as he left Wilmington, in his home state of Delaware. When asked if there could be a vote in Congress this week, he added: “I don’t know.”

Democrats seek to coalesce around two key pieces of legislation – a social spending and climate change plan of up to $ 2 trillion and a $ 1 trillion infrastructure plan – to deliver on the president’s campaign promises.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that a vote on the infrastructure package was planned for this week after Democrats reached an agreement on the other budget measure.
