With the integration of the smart “Linus” door lock from Yale, Bosch will in future be able to offer users of its smart home system the option of smart access solutions for their homes. The manufacturers announced this on Thursday at an event of the “Smart Home League”.

The Yale lock was recently tested by c’t. According to Bosch, Linus can be installed without any screws or drilling and commissioned via the Yale Access app. From now on you can see the current status at any time and lock and unlock the door directly. Control is also possible by voice command, supported by Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa. The conventional key can also be used to open the smart door.

If desired, users can also activate the auto-unlock function of the door lock. Thanks to geofencing, the door is automatically unlocked as soon as you approach – especially practical with full shopping bags or packages under your arm and your mobile phone deep in your pocket.

The integration of the smart door lock into the Bosch Smart Home System also enables the interaction with the existing devices from the Bosch Smart Home System. According to the manufacturer, this opens up a large number of combinations in automations, scenarios and services that “make everyday life even easier and provide additional security”.

As an example, Bosch cites the “Access control” service in the Bosch Smart Home app, which should be available shortly. In conjunction with the “Bosch Eyes” outdoor camera, users should not only be able to check who is at the door and speak to the person, but also open the door directly with one click. You shouldn’t have to leave the current view or switch between the apps.

The Yale Access App also offers the option of handing over a temporary virtual key in order to grant access to house sitters, cleaning staff, nursing staff or holiday guests. Recurring visits can thus be organized without contact.

The Bosch Smart Home Controller, the Bosch Smart Home App, the Yale Access App for mobile devices, a compatible cylinder (see Overview on the Yale website) and the Yale Connect WLAN Bridge. At the start of sales on October 15, 2021, a corresponding bundle, consisting of the door lock and a Yale bridge, will be available in Germany and Austria at a list price of around 330 euros.
