Acclaimed actor Kevin Costner’s 18-year marriage with Christine Baumgartner has ended with the latter filing for divorce. The reason for the separation remains unclear, but Baumgartner cited “irreconcilable differences” in her brief presented to the court. Costner’s representative has confirmed the news and has asked for privacy for the couple and their three children. Baumgartner has requested joint custody of the children, and Costner has responded with a similar request. In his response, the actor also stated that spousal support would be paid according to their prenuptial agreement.
Costner was known for his long list of romantic affairs before he met Baumgartner, who seemed to make him settle down for good. Costner’s first wife, Cindy Silva, filed for divorce after 15 years of marriage due to his extra-marital affairs. His relationship with Baumgartner initially raised eyebrows due to the 20-year age difference, but the couple smoothed things over and eventually married in a romantic ceremony in Aspen with more than 500 guests, including Bruce Willis and Oliver Stone.
Following their marriage, the couple welcomed three children – Cayden, Hayes, and Grace – but now their marriage has come to an end. Despite acknowledging his past mistakes, Costner’s marriage with Baumgartner has ended in divorce.
