The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, accompanied by the local councilor, Olga Granados, has signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement with the president of the Hotel Association of Peguera and Cala Fornells, Antonio Mayol, for the management of Calvià program, the European Winter during this next medium and low season.
The main objective of the program is to de-seasonalize tourist activity and boost the economic activity in the months of less tourist influx, thus contributing to a improvement of employment in Calvià. By signing this agreement, it is intended energize the area of Peguera and Cala Fornells through excursions and different Free activities for people visiting the town.
Calvià, the European Winter began in 1992 and has been developing uninterruptedly since then, with the exception of last winter because of the pandemic. Due to the current situation, and with the intention of retaking, promoting and giving continuity to this seasonal adjustment tool, it has been decided to increase the financial allocation of the program compared to the last edition (2019-2020) in a 28.29% and advance it to the month of October. It will take place for seven months, so The program will be in effect until April 30, 2022.
The program includes varied activities such as excursions, guided tours, workshops, concerts, visits to events, and other special activities. The City Council intends promote tourist activity while highlighting the natural and historical heritage and cultural of the municipality. On the other hand, and for a better dissemination of the activities, informs tour operators and travel agencies that operate in the municipality of the realization of the program and organized events.
On the other hand, Peguera hosts this coming weekend the seventh edition of the triathlon Challenge Peguera-Mallorca, an important international sporting event that has consolidated as an outstanding tool to promote sports tourism and diversify and extend the season.
