With just a few weeks left in summer, there’s still time to indulge in your favorite drinks. EBONY caught up with actors during the Summer 2024 Television Critics Conference in Pasadena, California, to discover which beverages have been keeping them refreshed this season.
Jaylen Barron
“My favorite drink of the summer would have to be a Lychee Martini,” shared Barron, who stars in the upcoming American Sports Story on FX. “It’s refreshing and sweet, making you feel like you’re drinking something healthy. It’s like becoming a hotter version of myself with it in my right hand and my girls next to me!”
Dennis Haysbert and Ser’Darius Blain
Blain, who co-stars with Haysbert in Hallmark’s upcoming holiday series Holidazed, revealed his summer go-to is a Gold Rush, which combines gold whiskey with a brown sugar cube or honey-squeezed lime. “It’s fresh and electric,” he added. Haysbert, meanwhile, prefers a non-alcoholic option: “I don’t drink much anymore, so give me a ginger beer with some bitters. It tastes like a cocktail, so I’m good.”
Tetona Jackson
“It’s a rotation: water, then coffee, and the occasional drink on the weekend,” said Jackson, the star of CBS’s new comedy series Poppa’s House. “I’m a tequila girl, so it’s a tequila gimlet on the rocks.”
B.J. Britt
“Kool-Aid. Growing up, my mom would let us pick two packets, which I thought was just heaven. I’d always go with cherry and grape,” said Britt, who stars in Hallmark+’s first guy-oriented romcom, The Groomsmen Trilogy. “There’s some in my refrigerator right now. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy.”
Tyla Abercrumbie
“I make Lemonade, but it needs a kick,” said Abercrumbie, star of CBS’s NCIS: Origins. “Add some Jack Daniel’s Honey Tennessee Whiskey and lots of lemon. It gives a nice fuzzy warm feeling for the summer.”
Nyambi Nyambi
“What’s in my summer cup is ice, crushed ice, and H2O—it’s not water, it’s H2O,” declared Nyambi Nyambi, who stars in NBC’s Night Court, returning in late fall.
