Chris Hemsworth worked hard to prepare his nude scene in Thor: Love and Thunder. Recently, the actor admitted that the shooting of a scene in which he undresses from the film directed by Taika Waititi, felt like a natural evolution of the character, however, he had to make sure he was in top shape before taking off his clothes.
The actor, who stars alongside Natalie Portman in the new film, told “Entertainment Tonight”: “That shot took 10 or 11 years to make. In every movie we have taken off some garments, but now we take off ALL our clothes.”
Chris – who embarked on an intense fitness plan before shooting the long-awaited film – admitted that the director was the driving force behind the controversial scene.
Asked what made him take up the character for the new Marvel film, the actor joked: “Obviously, a contractual obligation. If it had been my choice, it wouldn’t have happened.”
Chris, who has played Thor for more than a decade, previously confessed that he overtrained in the early years with an intense training regimen that ultimately had a detrimental impact on his energy levels.
“For years I probably overtrained. People who are dedicated to bodybuilding do not realize that it is a sport that should not be practiced seven days a week, two hours a day. He did it in the previous Thors, and he arrived more sore and with less energy.”
Now, the Australian-born actor has taken an athlete-like approach to his preparation, which he calls an “incredibly rewarding” experience.
“Training over ten years is a full-time job. That, and a 12-hour shooting day, it’s real hard work. It’s also incredibly rewarding. You have to see him as a professional athlete.”
