A few days ago, Will Smith offered an apology to Chris Rock for the slap he gave him at the most recent Academy Awards, however, the comedian does not have the slightest intention of responding to the star of ‘I am legend’.
In a recent video he shared via his social media and YouTube channel, Will publicly apologized to Chris for slapping him earlier this year following a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, 50.
In it, the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ actor claimed that he has reached out to Chris, who he has said is “not ready to talk” yet, and that when he wants he will be there to talk.
And although the actor said he had been told that Chris would contact him when he was ready, it has now been revealed that the comedian does not intend to do so.
A source has told Entertainment Tonight: “Chris has no plans to speak to Will [although] nothing would like him more than for him to publicly accept his apology.”
However, the informant assures that this “is not going to happen now” and suggested that the one who needs the public apology is Will: “He needs the forgiveness of the public, not Chris.”
In the clip, the Hollywood star accepted that his behavior was “unacceptable,” so he waited for him to respond so he could speak up. Will also apologized to Chris’ family and his own.
The ‘Men in Black’ actor further commented: “I have contacted Chris and the message that has come to me is that he is not ready to speak. And when it is, it will.”
He also opened up about the incident — which had sparked a backlash against him — saying there is “no part of [him]” that thinks he handled the situation in the “right way.”
“I try to be sorry without being ashamed of myself. I made a mistake and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of**,” he further commented.
He finally stated at one point in the recent video that it hurts him “psychologically and emotionally” to know that he didn’t live up to people’s expectations.
