Christina Aguilera steals the show at GLAAD Media Awards

Singer Christina Aguilera was the center of attention as she walked the red carpet at the GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills. She dazzled dressed in a black dress by designer Luis De Javier with a mermaid cut, covered in sequins. The garment had a V-neckline, puffed sleeves, and gloves.

The 41-year-old star showed off her curvaceous figure and showed off the beauty of her face with heavy makeup, consisting of foundation, blush on the cheeks, red lips, and cat-eye liner. She smoothed down her platinum hair. An important part of her look was her necklaces and her diamond earrings.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize celebrities and change agents who support the rights of the LGBT community. Christina Aguilera was awarded the “Defender for Change” award. “Christina Aguilera, who has one of the most celebrated voices in history, has used her platform to be a fearless advocate for the LGBTQ community, promoting conversations about LGBTQ acceptance and more, through music,” a statement from GLAAD press.

In 2002, Aguilera dedicated her single, ‘Beautiful’ to the LGBTQ community, with the phrase “words can’t bring us down” becoming a personal mantra for many queer people. The song brought a unique awareness and a sense of compassion in the face of hate, which earned Aguilera a special recognition at the 14th edition of the GLAAD Media Awards.

Aguilera also raised more than $500 million dollars for HIV research with MAC cosmetics in 2004, spoke out against Proposition 8 in 2008, and put trans dancers and drag performers in the spotlight during the 2012 American Music Awards, among other efforts.

Christina Aguilera’s presentation comes after she launched her brand of female lubricants. “I hope to inspire other women to feel comfortable talking about their experiences and owning their bodies and their sexuality and what that means to them, because every woman is different.” The artist said that sex is an essential part of general well-being and that her Playground brand is for pampering the body.

“There are natural and water-based lubricants to “awaken” the five senses and multiple zones erogenous. It’s meant to improve mood, mind, and libido,” she says.
