According to Nolan, the decision to cast his daughter was not premeditated. He explained, ‘We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence. So it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it.’ Nolan acknowledged the peculiarity of the casting choice, jokingly comparing it to Michael Powell’s casting of his young son in the horror film ‘Peeping Tom.’

However, Nolan also shared that the casting of his daughter aligns with the overarching theme of ‘Oppenheimer.’ The film explores the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II and delves into the consequences of wielding such destructive power. Nolan stated, ‘If you create the ultimate destructive power, it will also destroy those who are near and dear to you. So I suppose this was my way of expressing that in what, to me, were the strongest possible terms.’

‘Oppenheimer’ boasts an all-star cast, including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr. The film is set to be released on July 21 by Universal Pictures.
