The director also referred to HBO Max as “the worst streaming service”. In other words, the conditions for the director to change studios were more than enough.

It appears that Nolan envisioned a $100 million budget for Oppenheimer. This figure is, in his own words, “on a smaller scale” than the director’s other films. The director, who was looking for a new business partner, offered “Full creative control, the first 20% of revenue, and the studio not releasing films three weeks before or three weeks after their own film” during this search.

Tenet, Nolan’s last film, low success at the box office, this was partly due to the decision to close big-box theaters in the US.
