Talk about a longstanding horror franchise and the mention of Chucky is a must.
Before Conjuring or Paranormal Activity, the world had the Chucky franchise – a series of psychological thrillers, campy bloodfests, and dark comedies, where a little red-headed doll goes through many iterations. The entire Chucky series centers around the loose premise of a doll animated with a malicious spirit. You may find it innocuous and cute, but Chucky is not how it looks.
He finds his way into intimate familial settings that other monsters would not, giving him an edge of surprise that keep multiplying over and over. All the movies in the franchise were well received by the audience and critics alike. The craze for this character became so extensive that Chucky began to inspire comic books, video games, and television shows.
Most recently, the makers released the Chucky TV series that has completed a season and garnered 7.3 ratings on IMDb.

Child’s Play, 1988
The makers released the first-ever instalment of the movie, Child’s Play back in 1988. The story tells about the origin of the main character, Chucky. It is a plain horror movie starring Brad Dourif, Catherine Hicks, Alex Vincent, Chris Saradon, and Dinah Manoff.

The plot of the film revolves around a serial killer, Charles Lee Ray, cornered by the police in a toy store. He gets an idea to use his voodoo spell and transfers his soul into a Good Guy doll near him. It is how Chucky is born. It then follows Karen giving the doll to his son, Andy, as a gift. Soon, he goes on his murdering spree, blaming Andy.
Child’s Play 2, 1990
The first movie received a lot of love from the audience, convincing the makers to release its second part soon. Child’s Play 2 hit the theatres in 1990 with the same star cast and some new additions – Gerrif Graham, Jenny Agutter, and Adam Wylie.

The film continues the story where the previous one was left. Andy is in foster care because his mother sends him to the mental hospital after he blames the murders on a doll. He befriends his foster sister Kyle who also gets blamed for the murders by Chucky. She believes both Andy and her can stop the killer doll from murdering further.
Child’s Play 3, 1991
The third installment of the series was released less than a year after the second part. The story fast forwards to a decade. Andy is grown up as a teenager in a military school.

The Good Guy manufacturer rebuilds Chucky, bringing the killer back to life and leading him on another journey to kill Andy and whoever comes his way. The whole story has thrill and gore, sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Bride of Chucky, 1998
The makers took a big gap and released Bride of Chucky in 1998. This time the franchise also takes a humorous turn. For the first time in ten years, Andy Barclay gets a break. This installment pays attention to the relationship between Chucky and another doll, Tiffany, animated by his former lover and accomplice.

You can watch this installment more like a parody of itself. The whole movie is positioned squarely in the middle of the franchise. There is a moment of levity that furthers into increased playfulness of violence.
Seed of Chucky, 2004

Seed of Chucky, as the name suggests, has a son of Chucky and Tiffany, Glen, trying to resurrect his parents. He also tries to kill everyone once again in the feat of revenge. This part is a fun meta-twist and features Jennifer Tilly playing Tiffany, and as a version of herself, with Redman also doing the same.
Curse of Chucky, 2013
Curse of Chucky is set in 2013. Chucky arrives by mail at the home of Sarah and Nica Pierce. Right after his arrival, Sarah seemingly commits suicide. However, it is unknown to Nica and others that it is not a murder, but Chucky has murdered Sarah. Not only this, Chucky manages to put all the blame on Nica, but she somehow discovers the truth.

Nica now struggles to clear her name, and the whole plot revolves around Chucky, making it difficult for her to prove the same. On the other hand, Tiffany has returned to a human body. It lets her plot go unnoticed to track down Andy and settle the score between him and Chucky.
Cult of Chucky, 2017
Just when you thought that Curse of Chucky was enough to thrill the audience, the makers released another part of the installment, Cult of Chucky, in 2017.

Nica finds herself in a mental institution as she is blamed for all the murders in the previous movie. In the meantime, Chucky has some scores to settle with his old enemies and he takes the help of his wife to do the same. The film’s star cast included Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Summer Howell, and Jennifer Tilly; in short, the returning cast members from the previous parts.
Child’s Play, 2019
Child’s Play marked the remake of the first movie of 1988. The name was the same, and the movie was a reboot of the Child’s Play franchise. The change in star cast included Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Mark Hamill playing the voice of Chucky.

The plot involves a family terrorized by a high-tech doll that becomes murderous. Andy, the owner of the doll, reunites with the neighborhood children and stops the doll from his murder spree.
Chucky Series, 2021
The maker of Chucky, Mancini, is back for the Chucky series. The series aired weekly on both USA Network and SyFy. The story focuses on a group of teenagers in Hackensack. One of them finds himself discovering Chucky at a yard sale.

The series has the same star cast – Alex Vincent, Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Brad Dourif. Devon Sawa from Final Destination and others join the cast. The series has eight episodes in its first season.
There are Some Clips Too!
