It was evident that, once officially part of the Electronic Arts, in Codemasters they would have much more means for the development of video games with higher production values. The British studio, especially adept at driving titles, is now working on post-launch support for its most recent games, such as F1 2021 and Dirt 5, but that does not mean that they no longer think about future projects, and the next one, in fact, promises to be “the most ambitious and largest game of the last decade,” according to a job offer published on the Canadian company’s website.
The bright future of Codemasters
“Established in our newly founded studio in Cheshire, near Liverpool and Manchester, you will work closely with the development team,” begins the description of that offer, for Senior Manager specifically. “With the guidance of the Director of Development and support from the production team, you will help produce the studio’s next key project, which promises to be the largest and most ambitious game Codemasters has made in more than a decade.”
This offer makes it clear that this is not a creative job, but rather a production and management job. What’s more, it is clear that the concept is already underway. “The team has worked hard to support Dirt 5 since its launch with a lot of additional content, and while this comes to an end, we are already working on the concept of our next AAA project,” they comment in another offer, this time for Senior Manager.
That said, fans of driving should keep an eye out for the next Codemasters game, having released driving games that are absolute benchmarks in the genre. In addition to those mentioned, they are creators of the simulation side Dirt Rally, Grid and long before, of the unforgettable Colin McRae, and precisely they will have the official license of the World Rally Championship, WRC, from the year 2023.
