Colin Farrell to star in Penguin-focused spin-off series to air on HBO Max

According to rumors, Colin Farrell will be playing the role of Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot in the spin-off series about Batman’s villain Penguin.

Varietyannounced that Collin Farrel has signed a deal to portray the villain Penguin in the Batman spin-off series scheduled to air on HBO Max. Farrel will also play Oswald Cobblepot, opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman, in The Batman, due next March.

Rumors that the Penguin series was in production surfaced earlier this fall season. The series will apparently chronicle Penguin’s rise to the criminal underworld of Gotham City. Variety has revealed that Lauren LeFranc will write the script for the series, and that the new Batman movie director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark will be executive producers of the Penguin series.

While we haven’t seen Farrell’s villain performance yet, the star actor has been endorsed by Danny DeVito. Danny DeVito, who portrayed the Penguin in the 1992 movie Batman Returns, said he was excited to see Farrell take on this character and that Farrell is one of his favorite actors.
