Consultant revises upwards the production of sugarcane in Brazil in the 2022/23 season

Brazil’s central-southern region is expected to process more cane and produce more sugar than initially expected, due to more favorable weather conditions and a higher concentration of mills in production. of the sweetener, according to an article published Thursday.

According to revised projections by consulting firm Job Economia, Brazil’s main sugar belt will crush 566m tonnes of sugarcane in 2022/23, up from 558m tonnes forecast in April.

Sugar production will increase to 34.8 million tons, compared to 33.5 million tons previously forecast.
