The Chairman of Redeia (group that integrates Red Eléctrica), Beatriz Corredor, said on Thursday that in the first six months of validity of the gas cap Spain has guaranteed between 2% and 3.5% of the electricity supply of France and 35% of that of Portugal.

Corredor, in the introduction of an informative breakfast of the Dialogues for Democracy Club, with the Minister for Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, as a guest, said that Europe cannot forget that it needs Spanish renewables to meet the requirements of energy efficiency and strategic autonomy.

Therefore, he said that it is necessary to strengthen the interconnections of Spain with Europe.

Looking ahead to 2023, he said that the challenge is to consolidate an electricity system, in which he said that 6 out of every 10 megawatts (MW) are renewable, because although in 2022 records have been reached in wind and photovoltaic production, it cannot be stopped.

He has also indicated that climate change is not a hypothesis, but a reality, as proof that in the last year in 300 of the 365 days the normal temperature has been exceeded.
