“Crying Over Criticism: How My Appearance Became the Target”

Kristin Davis Opens Up About the Cruel Criticism She Received for Her Physical Appearance

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Kristin Davis, best known for her role as Charlotte on Sex and the City, opened up about the backlash she received for some of the cosmetic procedures she underwent in an effort to look younger and more attractive.

Davis revealed that she had cried many times due to the cruel criticism she received for the way she looked. She explained that while some of the fillers she had applied turned out well, others had not and resulted in her being ridiculed constantly.

The emotional toll Davis suffered from the criticism was made worse by her realization that she hadn’t even noticed the issue with her lips until her friends pointed it out to her. By that point, however, it was too late to escape the wrath of the public.

As Davis elaborated, Hollywood actresses are constantly held to an impossible standard of beauty, with people on social media expecting them to maintain their youthful looks at all times. On top of that, they get harshly criticized for any attempts they make to stay youthful.

Fortunately, Davis is part of a supportive group, with her Sex and the City co-stars having faced similar struggles with their appearance. When the show’s spin-off series, And Just Like That, debuted in 2021, fans and media outlets dissected the appearance of the three protagonists, with Sarah Jessica Parker’s grey hair a major talking point.

Despite the seemingly endless criticism, Davis and her co-stars remain defiant, knowing that they don’t need anyone’s approval to live their lives as they see fit. The upcoming second season of And Just Like That is set to premiere on June 22, with Davis, Parker, and Cynthia Nixon all reprising their iconic roles.
