Expectations couldn’t be higher. Cyberpunk 2077 was called to be one of the great video games of the generation, but its erratic premiere provoked a veritable storm of criticism, the flashes of which took the form of review bombing. A year later, the sky begins to clear. With Black Friday 2021 still kicking in, the game is down to 50% on Steam, which appears to have had a beneficial effect on CD Projekt RED’s action RPG – the most recent reviews have been very positive on the platform.
“In the last few days Cyberpunk 2077 has received a wave of very positive reviews on Steam, from the hand of the players. You can’t imagine what it means to me, ”said Paweł Sasko, director of missions, in a post on Twitter. As he celebrates in a subsequent tweet, during these hours more than 23,000 positive reviews have been added.
It will be considered a good game in the long run, says CDPR
In a recent interview with Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt Red, the manager has been convinced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be considered “A very good game” long-term. Although the studio is very proud “of many aspects of the game”, they are aware that “not everything went well”. Regardless, the project will continue to sell “for years,” which means it will evolve over time through new updates and large paid expansions.
Kiciński also referred to the next generation update, which will arrive in the first half of 2022 if everything goes according to plan. The CEO of the company has admitted that delaying it was a difficult decision, but that the development study considered that it needed more time to offer a product to match.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Google Stadia. It is currently backward compatible with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5.
