CD Projekt Red has clarified that the studio currently has no plans to carry Cyberpunk 2077 a Xbox Game Pass, despite the rumors which suggest you might be on your way to subscription service.

In response to speculation (as reported by VGC) about what the game may be coming to Game Pass soon, CD Projekt Red’s director of global public relations, Radek Grabowksi, has confirmed that that is not true.

“I intervene to say that there are no plans to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to Game Pass.”Grabowski confirmed and Twitter.

Initial speculation that the game could be heading to Game Pass arose after a recent marketing video for Xbox Cloud Gaming on consoles appears to show a brief snippet of the game. This led people to think that the game could make its way onto the platform, as gamers accessing Cloud Gaming on consoles must be subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate.

While Grabowski’s statements may have ruled out any possibility that the studio will bring the game to the platform in the foreseeable future, that doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t do it in the more distant future. And much more considering the precedents, since Microsoft has successfully brought several third party games to Game Pass.

As part of Xbox’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, the director of gaming ecosystems at Microsoft, Sarah Bond recently delved into the origins of the company’s popular subscription service, and even in how it was originally going to be born as a video game rental service codenamed Arches.

In an interview, Bond explained that the company’s decision to offer a subscription service, which we now know as Game Pass, was partly due to the success of other companies adapting similar models like Netflix and Spotify.
