Arkane Studios, the creators of Dishonored, are still working on their next video game, the long-awaited Deathloop for PS5 and PC. The French developer has built this new experience with the latest hardware in mind, so there will be no version for the previous generation of consoles. Dinga Bakaba, the director of the title, explained why this decision was made in an interview with PLAY Magazine. According to his words, it’s a matter of ambition:

“I do not think we would have been able to preserve the level of ambition of this game if we had not jumped to the new generation,” he commented, without specifying exactly at what points they have taken advantage of the characteristics of the new devices, although he has celebrated that there will be no need to remove any content due to technical limitations. “It is always disheartening when you are finishing a project and you have to optimize things, cut the map in half and justify why it is divided into two parts ”.

Exclusivity agreements will be respected

Deathloop will be a temporary PS5 exclusive despite all ZeniMax Media teams including Arkane Studios, have become part of Xbox Game Studios. Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, confirmed that Microsoft would respect the exclusivity agreements signed prior to this operation. However, the future points to be very different, since the next Bethesda projects are already exclusive to its ecosystem.

Arkane Austin, the developer behind Prey, has also unveiled her new project, RedFall. It is an action video game very focused on cooperative, which will go on sale for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, from day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. It was announced during Microsoft’s conference at E3 2021, where we got to see the first trailer and the release date: Summer 2022, if nothing goes wrong.
