Before The Matrix Resurrections makes us swallow the red pill to take us to its world of science fiction, another of the classics will be back, this time in the form of a movie. Dune will take us to desert sands of Arrakis for an adventure in the scorching heat of the sun. The long-awaited film will be able to be enjoyed from next September 17 in Spain, although the date may vary depending on the country in question. For example, in the United States it will be released on October 22.

Warner Bros. Pictures produces this film directed by Denis Villanueve, a director who is not profane in this science fiction. His recent films include nothing more and nothing less than Blade Runner 2042 and The Arrival. On this occasion, he is in charge of adapting one of the most acclaimed novels of the genre, the work of Frank Herbert. Those who want to take a look at what the movie looks like can check out the various trailers that have come out so far. In this same news we offer you an aperitif of what can be seen in movie theaters.

How long does the first movie cover? Synopsis and cast

Dune will be made up of two films. The question is, how far will the first go? It is important to mention that there are six main novels, in addition to the following that were written after the death of the original author. Part 1 will cover about half of the first book, while the second will complete this novel.

The film’s story takes place on Arrakis, also known as Dune, a desert planet where the commodity that is most scarce is, of course, water. For this reason, the autochthonous inhabitants use a system installed in their suits that allows them to recycle their bodily fluids to reconvert them into water.

The planet, ruled for generations by the Harkonnen family, is now under the umbrella of the House of Atreides. The emperor has ceded the exploitation of the spice reserves to this house, one of the most coveted elements in the galaxy, since it also works as a drug. How could it be otherwise, all this will lead to an internal and bloody fight.

The cast includes Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker). Also featured are Zenda (Spider-Man: Homecoming) or Sharon Dundan-Brewster (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and more.
