Eli Manning Heads First-Time Nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced a list of 167 modern era candidates for the 2025 hallberg class, featuring a notable array of first-time nominees. Among these are two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, renowned defenders Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs, and postseason kicking hero Adam Vinatieri.

Among the first-time candidates are offensive linemen Travis Frederick, Ryan Kalil, and Joe Staley; running back Darren Sproles; wide receiver Demaryius Thomas; tight ends Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker; and defensive backs Antoine Bethea, Aqib Talib, and Earl Thomas.

The list also comprises 10 players who were finalists in the previous year. These include tight end Antonio Gates, wide receivers Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne; offensive linemen Willie Anderson and Jahri Evans; defensive backs Darren Woodson, Eric Allen, and Rodney Harrison; defensive lineman Jared Allen; and running back Fred Taylor.

Eli Manning stands poised to follow his brother, Peyton, into the Hall of Fame after an illustrious career with the New York Giants. Selected as the first overall pick in the 2004 draft, Manning remained with the Giants throughout his professional journey. Kuechly’s career, though brief at eight years, was profoundly impactful. Selected by Carolina in the first round in 2012, he was a five-time All-Pro and a Defensive Rookie of the Year, recording an impressive 1,090 tackles, 26 takeaways, and 18 interceptions during his time in the league.

Marshal Yanda, recognized as a crucial figure for the Baltimore Ravens, was named to the 2010s all-decade team and earned eight Pro Bowl selections. His contributions on the offensive line significantly aided the team’s success during his tenure.
