Elle King says dad Rob Schneider sent her to ‘fat camp’ as a child: ‘Very toxic’

Elle King recently shared a personal story about her father, actor Rob Schneider, sending her to a “fat camp” during her childhood. “I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp,” King revealed in a teaser clip from Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast.

Having struggled with her weight as a child, King recalled a particularly difficult time when she sprained her ankle and was subsequently criticized for not losing weight. Reflecting on her experience, she described it as “very toxic and very silly.”

The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer, now 35, also opened up about her strained relationship with Schneider, mentioning that she distanced herself from him for “four or five years” due to disagreements over his opinions on various social issues. King expressed frustration over Schneider’s controversial views, particularly those against drag and LGBTQ rights.

“I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You’re talking out of your ass and you’re talking s–t about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights and it’s like get f–ked,” she said during the podcast. “He’s just talking out of his ass and I want to use this opportunity to say that I disagree. I do not agree with what he says.”

A representative for Schneider declined to comment when contacted by Page Six.

In June, Rob Schneider claimed that cancel culture was “over” following backlash he received for offensive jokes during a recent performance. The comedian was booed during his comedy set at a hospital fundraiser in Canada, where guests found his “transphobic, misogynistic and anti-vax” jokes unacceptable.

“Everyone in the room was groaning, saying, ‘What is going on?’ Like, whispering to themselves,” guest Tynan Allan told the CBC at the time. “Not a single laugh at times. It was just very apparent how uncomfortable everyone felt and how unacceptable the things he was talking about were,” Allan added.

The hospital later issued a statement condemning Schneider’s jokes, emphasizing that his views did not align with the values of the foundation and their team. “While we recognize that in a free and democratic society, individuals are entitled to their views and opinions and that comedy is intended to be edgy, the content, positions and opinions expressed during Mr. Schneider’s set do not align with the values of our foundation and team,” the Hospitals of Regina Foundation stated.

In response to the backlash, Schneider insisted that he performed his full 50-minute routine, disputing claims that his set was cut short. “I’m not changing my material or apologizing for my jokes to anybody. Enough with this woke bulls–t, America’s sick of it,” he told TMZ. “I did 50 minutes because that’s what I was paid to do. Nobody removed me from stage, somebody waved to me at the 50 minute mark.”

Schneider has previously faced criticism for his political views. In July 2021, he referred to COVID-19 vaccines as “experimental gene therapy,” urging his followers to refuse vaccination. “Just say no… And keep saying no,” he tweeted. “Over Half of the US population is continuing to say no to this unapproved experimental gene therapy!”

In April of this year, Schneider’s comedy set at a GOP event was reportedly met with controversy and was said to be cut short due to his offensive jokes. However, he refuted these claims, maintaining that he had completed his performance.

Elle King’s recent revelations have shed light on the complexities of her relationship with her father, highlighting the impact of his actions and views on their personal dynamic.
