Ron Cephas Jones, the Emmy-winning actor best known for playing William Hill on This Is Us, has died at the age of 66. The news of his death was confirmed by a representative for the actor, who stated that he passed away due to a long-standing pulmonary issue.

Throughout his career, Jones was known for his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness, and heart. He began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and had a love for the stage that was present throughout his entire career. He received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk Award for his role in Clyde’s on Broadway.

Jones’ inner beauty and soul were evident in his multi-Emmy award-winning performance on This Is Us. He is survived by his daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones.

Jones gained recognition for his role as William Hill on This Is Us, the biological father of Randall Pearson. He won two Emmy Awards for his guest acting performance on the show, making him the first-ever father-daughter duo to win Emmys in the same year, as his daughter Jasmine also won her first Emmy in 2020.

In addition to This Is Us, Jones appeared in various television shows and films, including Mr. Robot, The Get Down, Luke Cage, and Truth Be Told. He was also a member of New York’s Off-Broadway LAByrinth Theater Company and had several notable theatrical roles.

In 2021, Jones revealed that he had privately battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and underwent a double lung transplant. Despite the challenges, he continued to pursue his passion for acting and made a remarkable recovery.
