European Union energy ministers on Friday tasked Brussels with drafting proposals to cap revenue from non-gas-fired electricity generators in a bid to cut energy costs for consumers. , according to a draft summary of the ministers’ meeting.

The ministers also asked the European Commission to propose other temporary emergency measures, including a gas price cap, but refrained from approving one specific to Russian gas, according to the draft document seen by Reuters.

Brussels should present the proposals in mid-September, according to the draft.
