Former Archwell COO Mandana Dayani is reflecting on her cherished experiences while working alongside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
In a recent cover story for Us Weekly, Dayani expressed the challenge of publicly addressing the various negative narratives surrounding the couple. She emphasized that much of the kindness, mentoring, and support that Prince Harry and Meghan provide to others often occurs quietly and behind closed doors.
Dayani shared a memorable moment spent in the couple’s kitchen while Meghan was feeding their daughter, Lilibet, and simultaneously reaching out to several senators. “Their reactions were unbelievable,” she recalled, describing Meghan’s efforts to advocate for paid family leave.
The bond between Dayani and the Sussexes deepened through shared experiences, including a visit to Uvalde, Texas, following the tragic school shooting in 2022. Dayani recounted how Meghan spent hours listening to and comforting grieving families. Demonstrating her commitment, Meghan has maintained contact with those families affected by the tragedy.
Describing Harry and Meghan as selfless humanitarians, Dayani remarked, “Throughout every global crisis, their first question was always: ‘How can we help?’” She noted their involvement with various groups, including veterans, women in need, refugees, and animals in distress, highlighting their willingness to assist without seeking anything in return.
During her time with the Sussexes, Dayani also enjoyed personal moments with them. She fondly remembered their weekly meetings at their Montecito home, where Meghan prepared delightful lunches and snacks. Dayani elaborated on how she felt welcomed and at ease when attending her first royal gala. She recalled, “I walked into their room and found Meghan finishing her own makeup and steaming her jumpsuit.” The atmosphere was light-hearted, with toasts shared over champagne and Meghan dancing to her favorite oldies playlist.
Dayani shared her admiration for Harry’s grounded nature. She reflected on her family background and how, despite contrasts in upbringing, she never sensed any inequality or inferiority around him. “My dad’s mother was a Kurdish mother of seven from a small village who never learned to read, drive, or speak English, and his dad’s mother was the Queen of England—I realized that I never once felt unequal or less than,” she said.
The friendship remains strong between Dayani and the Sussexes. She recently spoke with Meghan about their plans for a future lunch, showcasing the continued warmth and camaraderie between them. “These are kind, decent, caring people who I am very proud to call my friends,” Dayani conveyed warmly.
