Facebook wants to transfer VR workouts to Apple Health

From the virtual reality headset directly to the iPhone? This should be possible in the future for health data that is recorded during VR training with Oculus glasses. Oculus owner Facebook has planned a corresponding function in its iOS app, as a developer reports, who looked at the code hat.

Previously, the business news agency Bloomberg reported on the plans. Facebook’s idea is to link the so-called Oculus workouts with Apple Health. With the fitness system called Oculus Move, it would then be possible, for example, to send the calories burned during exercise to the iPhone.

This serves as the central Apple Health registration point and also accepts data from the Apple Watch computer clock and various other devices and apps. The health app evaluates data and also shows the pure values, if you so wish.

With the integration, Facebook apparently wants to make its Move system more attractive. It was announced as a function last year and allows fitness activities to be measured in supported games. However, the feature is still at the very beginning, even if Facebook managers emphasize that the topic will be very important for VR in the future. However, the fact that the code is contained in the iOS app for Oculus does not mean that the feature has to be released immediately. Facebook can decide as much as it likes.

Apple should meanwhile also work on fitness products for virtual, mixed or augmented reality applications in its laboratories. For years there has been serious speculation that Apple will soon come onto the market with a corresponding headset – but that “soon” should still take quite a while. Until then, the central fitness tracker will be Apple’s computer clock, Apple Watch, whose data, as mentioned, has long been a central component in the Apple health ecosystem.
