Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster Release Date and New Details Announced

Square Enix has announced the release date of its 2D remaster of Final Fantasy 4, which will arrive on PC and mobile on September 8, 2021. This new version will be released on Steam (in the case of PC) and will include improvements over its predecessor. The 2D pixel art style of the title has been redesigned for modern hardware and its iconic soundtrack has been adapted to the new version.. Square Enix’s work has been so thorough that several reports indicate that the soundtrack has been overseen by Nobuo Uematsu himself.

The gameplay of Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster has also been improved. The remake will use updated controls for gamers using controller, a more modern user interface and auto battle options so that the combat is more fluid. Square Enix has also included a number of improvements to the game’s quality of life, ranging from extras like a bestiary, to the inclusion of a music player and the ability to save to the game at any time.

Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster follows the release of reissues of the first three games in the series, which premiered on July 28. Square Enix plans to release reissues of Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy 6 in the future, although its release dates have not yet been confirmed.
